A LETTER FROM JOHN

Dear Friends,

After serving six years as the executive director of the Missouri Republican Party, I founded JHA in April, 2003 to provide political support to candidates in Missouri and across the nation. Within a year, we started Public Pulse Research to enhance our ability to serve political and corporate clients. Our little business has been blessed to witness numerous successes over the years and has grown to include six associates and work in 30 states in the political, fundraising, research, event management, public relations and government relations services.

Our mission statement is simple: "Provide the very best advice and service to clients in accomplishing their objectives; do it with the highest level of integrity and at a fair price; and execute the small details well in order to achieve amazing development of the Big Picture."

Over the years, JHA and Public Pulse Research have accomplished some truly remarkable achievements. Whether it was helping with the largest-grossing fundraising event in Missouri GOP history ($2.9 million for the Bush-Cheney reelection campaign) or coordinating Governor Matt Blunt’s historic inauguration (11 separate events with 6,000 attendees over a 2-day period) to putting together memorable Missouri experiences at Republican National Conventions, JHA has well-earned a solid reputation for creative direction and precise execution.

As a research firm, our work has been recognized and referred throughout the country. We provide detailed research services to candidates ranging from city council to the United States Senate. The partnership we provide in campaigns has become vital to their electoral successes and messaging strategies. JOHN HANCOCK
President

Campaign strategy & leadership, candidate & issue research, government relations, public opinion surveys, fundraising, event planning, public relations and issue management are the principal skill sets of Hancock and his firm.

John Hancock’s political experience spans three decades in grassroots and electoral politics. He is a former state legislator, was the GOP nominee for Missouri Secretary of State in 1992 and 1996, and served as executive director for the Missouri Republican Party from 1997 to 2003. He continues providing political consultation to the state party. Under his leadership, Missouri Republicans have made historic progress. Since 1997, the state GOP has gained seats in the US House, US Senate, won historic majorities in the State House and State Senate and recaptured the Governor’s Offices. Recently, Hancock has served as chief strategist for numerous local, statewide, and national campaigns.

Hancock has also developed and implemented the firm’s fundraising activities for its clients, ranging from presidential campaigns, the Republican National Committee, The Missouri Republican Party and numerous non-profit clients.

In 2005, Hancock founded Public Pulse Research, which has become a nationally recognized candidate and issue research business serving dozens of clients in 28 states.

Hancock has worked in the public relations and media affairs industry since 1993 fora number of corporate clients. He also served as producer of special events, including working with national and local non-profit groups such as Fellowship of Christian Athletes, the Pujols Family Foundation, Teen Challenge, and Wings of Hope. Hancock is also a frequent radio host on KMOX-AM 1120 in St. Louis, where he co-hosts the Hancock & Kelley program, a bi-partisan political insider talk show.

Hancock has been married to his wife and business partner, Georgann, for 20 years.They are the parents of John, Jr., a high school senior and Mary Kathryn, a high school freshman. Hancock is a nationally-renowned ragtime pianist and composer, having performed concerts and lectures across the country. His music has been recorded by himself and others.

 
 
GEORGANN HANCOCK
Partner

Georgann Hancock joined John Hancock and Associates as a Partner in September 2010. She directs the firm’s public relations business and assists with political, fundraising and special events clients. Georgann’s background in media and public relations included work with Monsanto, Sunshine Ministries, The Telephone Doctor and the American Association of Orthodontists. Her expertise is in planning and executing small- and large-scale special events, both professionally and as a volunteer. Politically, Georgann has worked on local and statewide campaigns with a particular emphasis on fundraising. She currently serves on the parent board of Westminster Christian Academy.

 
 
STEPHEN MOERGEN
Director of Operations

Mr. Moergen is a seasoned veteran and knowledgeable business professional who has completed 38 years of sales, marketing and executive management in consumer goods, specifically footwear, apparel and related accessories. Moergen has developed strong domestic/international sales and marketing strategies for large, well-known footwear and apparel brands. Moergen’s specific experience includes the US, Canada and Mexico coupled with extensive worldwide travel related to product design, production management, strategic market opportunity planning and trend reviews.

Moergen has served as a key executive with such well-known companies as Timberland, Rockport/Reebok/Avia, Genesco (J&M/Dockers Footwear), Ecco, Havana Joe/Panama Jack, Wolverine Worldwide/Sebago and Centric (TRG Group and Keefe). He has also provided consulting services and is a Director for the Two Ten International Footwear Foundation, a philanthropic organization with efforts directed specifically to the footwear industry. In addition, Moergen has held board positions with the NSRA (National Shoe Retailers Foundation) and has been a former board member for the FDRA (Footwear Dealers and Retailers Association) and the WSRA (Western Shoe Retailers Association).

Through his efforts, Moergen has insured measured success with each of his affiliations, specifically positive results in sales, market share growth, reach and brand "scaling’ coupled with consumer access, gross margin growth, expense control/reduction, distribution throughput, and retailer partnership enhancement. In addition to these, Moergen, over the years, has refined a very deliberate and pronounced leadership skill set that unifies internal, retail and consumer constituencies.

Outside of the work environment, Moergen has experience with director positions for St. Louis-based Discovering Options and St. Louis K Life. He lives in Kirkwood, Missouri with his wife and has four children.

 
 
KYLE RELIFORD
Research Director

Kyle Reliford has worked as the Director of Research at John Hancock & Associates since 2003. Before joining the firm, Reliford worked as a Senior Research Analyst for the Republican National Committee in Washington, DC and as the Executive Director of a Missouri-based think tank. He has conducted hundreds of studies on political candidates at all levels of government, in addition to authoring numerous corporate research and policy issue projects. During the recent 2010 election cycle, Reliford worked on high-profile U.S. Senate, Congressional and statewide races in Missouri, Kentucky, Wisconsin, Washington, Michigan, Ohio, Tennessee, New Jersey and Kansas. To date, he has conducted research in 27 states.

Reliford and his wife, Stacy, reside in Kirkwood, Missouri and have one daughter, Elise, the coolest kid on the planet.

 
 
MIRIAM STONEBRAKER
Political Director

Miriam Stonebraker currently serves as Political Director for John Hancock and Associates. She brings a lengthy career in grassroots organization, political strategy, and campaign management. Stonebraker was previously employed in the political division of the Missouri Republican Party with emphasis on party building, candidate recruitment, and campaign management. She has served in senior staff positions in multiple statewide campaigns and GOP Victory operations, including Talent for US Senate 2002/2006, Bush-Cheney 2000/2004, Hulshof for Governor 2008, MRP Victory 2010 and multiple statewide ballot initiatives. She has conducted successful grassroots lobbying campaigns for national organizations and corporations.

Stonebraker has assisted with the planning and management of multiple Presidential, Vice Presidential, and U.S. Cabinet member visits to Missouri. She has planned and executed events in all 114 counties in Missouri, including candidate announcements, town hall forums, press conferences, and campaign rallies. Stonebraker specializes in grassroots lobbying, field management and get-out-the-vote operations.

 
 
MICHELLE WRIGHT
Director of Development

Michelle Wright manages fundraising planning and implementation for the Firm’s political and non-profit clients. In addition, she plans and executes political, corporate and non-profit special events, delivering a high-impact experience while following budgetary requirements. Michelle brings 20 years of experience in working directly with clients to meet and exceed their fundraising and event goals. Politically, Michelle’s involvement began in Atlanta as a volunteer for Newt Gingrich’s 1998 congressional election. After moving back to St. Louis, she continued her activity by working on the Talent for U.S. Senate campaign in 2002. In addition to her political experience, she evaluated MBA candidates and advised the admissions committee for Washington University’s Olin School of Business. Her area of expertise was assessing the goals, motivation and communication abilities of the international applicants. Prior to joining the Firm, Michelle developed and implemented fundraising strategies for the Archdiocesan Department of Special Education and creatively executed events to increase awareness and financial support. She was a founding parent of the St. Gemma Center for Autism – a school operated by the Archdiocesan Department of Special Education. Michelle holds a bachelor of science in business administration from the University of Missouri – St. Louis. She served on the board of the Howard Park Center and is a current board member of VSA of Missouri – a statewide organization promoting access to the arts for people with disabilities. Michelle lives in Chesterfield with her husband, Jamie, and their two daughters.
